Road Trip Day One [GOR]

I've been wanting to visit the Great Ocean Road for sometime now. The last time I wanted to go something came up so the plan was cancelled. But this time, we acted swiftly. Before the thought of going was set into our mind, everything was booked, confirmed and paid before anyone can back out. And off we went on our two day road trip to the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island XD.

We rented our car from Budget . We only knew what car we were going to get on the day we collect the car. To our surprise they gave us the new Toyota Corolla =D. We were all very satisfied with the car.

Our lovely car for two days...

Our journey started at 9am, 25th of March.

Jon

SH

and HY [^^" just realised we din take a pic of her driving...] were our drivers for the trip.

We left Clayton around 9.20am. None of us have driven pass Caulfield before so our navigator [SH] planned out our road quite carefully a few days beforehand. In the end, we got onto the right highway without any mistakes [yay~]. Turned out that it's actually quite easy....

Through Toorak Road

Onto Westgate Bridge

And off to Geelong we go

[Disclaimer: The above description is a very simplified version of our route... Please research a bit more if you do wanna drive there... =P]

It took us around an hour an a half to get to Geelong. The day started out quite gloomy but it eventually cleared as we drove further. =D It was about another hour drive before we reach Torquay. Torquay, the official start of the Great Ocean Road, is a popular holiday town and it is also a surf town. All the big surfing brands are there. You can also get surfing lessons if you're up for it.

We stopped over at Bells Beach.
The view was spectacular. It's been so long since I last saw views like these... Driving along GOR reminded me alot of New Zealand...

We didn't go down to the beach cuz it looked like there was some surfing competition going on down at Bells Beach that day.

Our next stop was Point Addis, a Marine National Park.

We then passed by Anglesea,
Aireys Inlet, and before we got into Fairhaven, we paid the Split Point Lighthouse a visit.
It's not a huge lighthouse to see but you can do some bush walking, enjoy a coffee or two, or go to the beach from here.

After our visit to the lighthouse, we realised we didn't have much time left.. As the roads can get quite dangerous, we had aimed to get out of the Great Ocean Road before sunset. After realising that, we had no choice but to skip pass most of the scenic views =(

We continued our journey passing by Moggs Creek, and stopped by the Memorial Arch to take some more pictures =).
Lunch was at the beach. As our trip was a budget trip, we brought our homemade sandwiches, packaged drinks along. Not very luxurious but it was all good =D

Our journey continued after lunch. Lorne was the next town that we passed by.

After Lorne, the sky turned darker,

and the roads got whindier (dat even a word?).

We passed by more towns but didn't stop at any of it. The journey from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles made me a little car sick. From Apollo Bay onwards, the roads are more inland and all I could see were trees, cows, horses, sheeps, and 无尽的草原...

We finally reached the 12 Apostles around 5 plus. That's about.... 8 hours that we've traveled [including stopping, taking pics, etc etc...]!!! For those who expect to see 12 Apostles at the 12 Apostles, you'll be disappointed. According to Lonely Planet, it's a myth to why it was named the 12 Apostles. Today, only seven of the Apostles can be seen. It's either they named it that way to get a more poetic license or five of it has been consumed by the sea. ^^" So peeps, you might want to consider going to see the apostles soon before it disappears~

We rushed to our last destination as it was getting dark and it looked like it was about to rain.

I am amazed at the wonders of nature... [Like always, I'm getting annoyed at the speetd at the pictures are uploading.. So even though there are more pics to post up I'm gonna stop for now =P]

Jon drove 5 hours non-stop back to Clayton [applause applause].

By the way, this is how much we spent on petrol...
We spent RM150 on petrol ='( "sum tong sum tong"

Everyone was dead tired by the time we got home. But we still managed to play a few games of bridge [our newest favourite past time] before we headed off to our beds XD.

Tha just about wraps up our Great Ocean Road Trip. I'll try to post our Phillip Island trip soon [when I'm in the mood...].

Finally, click here if you want to read bout Jon's view of our trip~

The uncertainties...

Do you wonder about your future?
I'm sure everyone wonder about it once in a while...
I've been wondering about it more often lately.
Most probably due to the fact that I'm graduating soon and everyone is talking about getting a job, where they're gonna live, etc.

I get pretty worried about it...
I worry if I'll make the 'right' choice.
What's right and what's wrong?

This is a turning point of my life.
I made a turning point 4 years ago and I need to make another one soon.
I often wonder what would've happened if I never turned 4 years ago.
Which road would've been a smoother ride?
I'm certain that I didn't regret turning.

What about this turn that I'm going to make soon?
These turns seem to get harder and harder.
Evaluation and analysing seems to get more complex every turn.

I guess I'll just have to live my life the best thatt I can no matter where I turned to.
Choose the best path that appears to be the best?
I hope that I'll be able to make that choice...

The heat is killing me softly....

ARGHHHHHHHH!!!
It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot!!!!!!!
I really think I'm about to die from this heat...
Feels like I'm being baked in the oven ><

Look at that!! 36.7 degrees. Without any air conditioning, car, things to keep me cool, ughhh! Dammit it's supposed to be Autumn by now. Grrrrrrrrr.
Looking at the forecast I don't think I'll complain about being cold any time soon...

Okok...
I've been pampered almost my whole life....
Sigh....

I'm now missing the house back in Armadale...

Moving away from all that stress.....
We went to the Moomba Festival last week.
Didn't try out any of the rides though.
Only went to the fireworks
It was pretty much the same as last year.
But the company is a bit different this year.
Makes a bit of difference I guess =)
A lil lazy to go into the details.....
So I'll just post up a few pics :p

A day out in the city

As I mentioned in my earlier post, I went out to the city last Saturday.
HY and co decided that they wanted to watch a movie that weekend.
It took a long time to decide but we went for 'The Bucket List' in the end.
Not a bad movie. I got a bit teary eyed towards the end... =(

Anywayz... We met in Melbourne Central around 3pm.

Everyone was actually on time... :o

While waiting for our movie to start, we decided to go over to Max Brenner to chill.
[HY didn't have any lunch so that she could indulge in those very evil chocolates...]
I got myself a cup of Dark Magic Crunchy Waffle Balls [can't actually remember the exact name... But it's along that line....]. After 3 months of not drinking anything to do with chocolate [unless you count milo in...], it tasted oh so good.... We also ordered the Waffles.

Oh yeaa. Max Brenner changed their menu [they keep changing it dammit]. Two years ago when I first arrived in Melbourne, when you ordered the waffles, the strawberries came with it. Last year, you had to pay like 2 bucks extra for the strawberries, or ice cream or bananas. It became more expensive to have the full package ><. This year, they have a seperate thing. With the fruits and ice cream, they call it the 'Tutti-Fruitti Waffle' [or something like that]. And it's called the 'Warm Belgium Waffle' [not too sure of the exact name...] without all the fruits and stuff. The whole package was bout... $16. Mannnnn. I don't remember it being so expensive... ><

Enjoying my chocolate...

The 'full package'

Us posing....

The group...

Us

We didn't really take our time to enjoy of stuff because we were running kindda late for our movie [ordering took quite some time... couldn't catch any eye contact with any of the waitresses....].

After the movie, we went to 天府川菜馆.
Some might already know, it's a restaurant specialising in 'Si Chuan' dishes.
We ordered the usuals... Since all of us are trying not to eat much nowadays, we only ordered three dishes. And it was just right for all. Everything was wiped clean [well.. most things anywayz].
We ordered, 辣子鸡, 酸菜鱼, 清炒空心菜.

yum yum =D

It wasn't too spicy this time. Everyone was alright =D
My stomach went abit funny the next day though....

During dinner, Fang suggested to drink at my place after dinner. She said she had this red wine at home.... So everyone went back to their place to pack up their stuff.... But guess what?? Fang decided to forget to bring the main character - the red wine ^^""""". Super duper blur....
But we bought a bottle of red and white wine before we left the city so it wasn't too bad.
By the way, I'm not promoting alcohol in any way.
Please be responsible with alcohol ;p

That's about how my day went. XD
Life isn't too bad
